Fascinating. I visited the chapel in 2005 when I was trying to find where my father, his brother and four sisters were brought up in Crock by Hughie O'Neill and Saranne after the premature death of their parents in 1917-1922. I found Hughie's farm with some help by local people and one of my cousins found the gravestone in memory of Michael Morris (who managed the creamery) and Annie his wife on their visit in 2009. I must return to find out more about even earlier times and records, especially Michael and Annie's connections with USA where four of their daughters setlled later. Any clues welcome!

Best wishes

Frank

Hello - I would like to ask about the Parish records in Greencastle. For geneology purposes I am interested in the baptism and marriage records for the 1840's and 1850's. If anyone knows if they exist and are viewable by the public, I would appreciate being contacted at *ritafox69 Best wishes to your fine community, my relatives here in the US were warmly greeted on their trip to Greencastle. Thank you, Rita Fox, Robbinsdale, Minnesota

I must say it was a delight to listen into Sunday mass aired on BBC Radio Ulster from Broughderg chapel on Sunday past. The service and choir was so beautiful. Congratulations to Fr Hassan, Niall and anyone else involved in the parish website. It really is a great site and it is so nice to read about the parish and see all the beautiful pictures of events at home. RIP to all those who have passed away.

I am trying to find out information on my great grandfather, Patrick Mulholland born in the Gortin area c1869. I have attached a copy of his marriage certificate. He married in St Mary's R.C chapel in the parish of Gortin on 21st August 1890. The parish priest at the time was a Fr Magee but I don't see him listed as having been a parish priest. His father is listed as a James Mulholland (farmer) and Thomas Mulholland and a Catherine Fox were the witnesses. Patrick married Bridget Boyle from Donegal and that's where he spent the rest of his life. His first child (patrick) was born in 1890 in Tyrone (listed as place of birth on the 1911 census). I have not been able to locate a birth cert of Patrick Senior or Junior. I'm trying to find out who his parents were or if he had any brothers or sisters. Any ideas or help anyone can give me would be much appreciated. email *salmulholland

What a fantastic website, only found out about it today. I was born in Formil and started school in the old Greencastle building and later transferred to Crock, bitter sweet memories of both schools. Will digest this website and thanks to all who maintain its upkeep.

I am the great granddaughter of Michael and Letitia McConnell McGurk. We have been to beautiful Sheskinshule and are so grateful to you for saving the home my grandmother grew up in known as Letty’s Farm. It was quite an emotional day when we walked through her home. I have completed much of our family history on the McConnell side but have no information on the McGurk side. Michael died apporox 1900 and I would love to find his burial site. Letty had 5 children: Bernard, Mary, Catherine, Rose and James. Thank you to my cousins for taking us around Sheskinshule and treating us royally. Wonderful website.
